The UCSF School of Nursing & their Diversity, Inclusion Office would like to share our practice of developing a positive growth mindset (PGM) approach when advising and mentoring students in the health sciences. We will introduce the adaptive learning model & inclusivity and how PGM in advising can promote increased feelings of belonging and inclusivity among learners. The second half of the presentation will share the SON PM Academic Advising Roadmap and corresponding Advising Guide. They are designed to support both new and seasoned academic advisors in advising activities. The Advising Roadmap has recommended discussion topics for each quarter, plus recommended resources. The goal is to improve and streamline the advising experience for learners, staff and faculty by incorporating Positive Growth Mindset concepts.
